Our Story
& Ethos
La granja is more than a getaway
It is a revelation of who we are and how we can reconnect to the land, the food we eat and the communities that surround us that make life worthwhile.
Tz'ikin is the Nawal of abundance
We named our farm after the energetic archetype of the bird, guardian of the land and seed in the Mayan cosmovision. It symbolizes communication, freedom and abundance, which aligns perfectly to the goals of our farm.
WE BELIEVE THAT HUMAN BEINGS AND NATURE ARE ONE AND THE SAME,
and that conscious design is the key to bringing an end to our false sense of separation.
FIVE YEARS AGO
We decided to build a place where we could explore what this reconnection could look like. Using the Permaculture Principles to facilitate the regeneration of the piece of land we bought, we designed a space around natural patterns, helping us meet the needs of those who interact and depend upon them and resulting in the production of nutritious foods and a diverse healthy landscape.
Is that our farm can serve as a self-regulating space of reconnection and exploration, where everyone is welcome to share, collaborate and harvest practical and deep lessons from our own selves, our community and nature.
